Botulinum toxin is not the first ten years holds the championship in the frequency of cosmetic procedures. For someone, the introduction of Botox is a long time habitual thing, someone still does not dare to do it. So, what is the procedure for introducing Botox?
What is Botox?
Botulinum toxin is a pharmaceutical preparation, the main action of which is the reduction of muscle hyperactivity and the removal of pathological muscle tone. In neurology, Botox is actively used to treat severe muscle spasms, contractures, various myopathies, migraines.
In cosmetology we are interested in the effect of Botox on facial muscles. Mimic muscles on the face of each person form a unique and distinctive facial expression. These muscles on one side are attached to the skull, and on the other hand – free fibers are woven into the skin. With contraction, the muscle pulls the skin behind it, resulting in a skin fold or wrinkle. Over the years, such a fold becomes deeper and remains on the face even in the absence of facial expressions. Thus, by introducing Botox into facial muscles, we reduce their ability to pull the skin behind them. As a consequence, the wrinkle does not deepen and can completely disappear from the face.
What wrinkles can be removed by Botox?
Botox corrections glabella region, forehead wrinkles, wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet), wrinkles around the mouth, wrinkles of a smile on the cheeks, wrinkles on the nose, platysma muscle.
At what age should I start to stab Botox?
On average, mimic wrinkles begin to form at the age of 28 – 30 years. However, it happens that after 20 years, expressed skin folds are formed. This happens to patients who have genetically large and dense facial muscles, so wrinkles are laid deep. Nevertheless, it is impossible to “run” wrinkles on the face. When the wrinkle is shallow, introduction of Botox will remove the increased activity of the muscle and this wrinkle will cease to be laid. There is a so-called effect of muscle memory, in which a person, over time, does not learn to do this or that mimic movement: frown, raise them upward, screw up one’s eyes, etc. Therefore, when the wrinkle is small, it is much easier to eliminate than when it is deep. In this situation, it will not be enough to cope only with Botox injections.
How often to stab Botox and how much does the effect last?
After the introduction of Botox, the muscles restore their activity, on average, after 4 to 6 months, respectively, and the effect of Botox administration will hold this time. Therefore, to maintain the effect of the procedure for the introduction of Botox should be repeated 2-3 times a year. It is possible that the muscles will become unaccustomed to doing unnecessary movements and support will have to be done less often – once every 10 to 12 months.
What is better than Botox or Dysport
Botox and Dysport are the most famous drugs among botulinum toxins. These drugs have the appropriate quality certificates and are completely safe in practice. The active substance in Botox and the lonely one is botulinum toxin type A. The difference is in the stabilizing proteins, therefore the features of the action in the peparates differ slightly, but the essence of their effect is the same. Decide which drug Botox or Dysport is suitable for you to the doctor. It depends on the features of the structure of the muscles and the morphotype of the face.
Disport is cheaper than Botox
The activity of Botox and Dysport is measured in units (ED). The price is usually indicated for 1 unit of the drug, and the cost of the procedure is composed of the amount of ED multiplied by the price of 1 unit. However, 1 Botox unit is more active than 1 ED of Dysport in 2-3 times, therefore it costs more. To achieve the same effect from the procedure, you just need to enter just more of the Dysport than the Botox, so the final cost will not have any particularly strong differences. And, the amount of botulinum toxin in both cases you will get the same. So, to correct the area of the eyebrow, 10-12 units of Botox or 25 – 35 units of Dysport are required. As, for example, the doctor prescribed to take 1 tablet – 1 g of paracetamol per day, and in the pharmacy there would be tablets only with a dosage of 0.5 g, so to get 1 g they will have to drink 2, but the effect of this will not change.
I will not get bitten after Botox?
Entering botulinum toxin is allowed only by a doctor who has been trained in this technique and has a specialist certificate. Mimic muscles are very numerous, each has its own blood supply and innervation. Only a clear knowledge of anatomy will allow to perform this procedure without error and effectively. The lack of this knowledge and skills can lead to disastrous consequences, since they are reversible and pass through 3 to 4 months on their own.
To the introduction of Botulinum toxin there is a certain list of contraindications. They find out the doctor during the reception.
Where to stab Botox
The ultimate goal of Botox is to eliminate wrinkles. However, the wrinkle itself is not a substratum. The cause of its appearance is the movement of the muscle, which can be at a considerable distance from the wrinkle. This can be understood only by a specialist when staging a mimic test. Therefore, do not be surprised when the doctor introduces you a shoe completely to other places, and not where wrinkles.
Botox begins to act on 3-5 days after the introduction and the maximum effect comes on 2-3 weeks. Sometimes, 2 weeks after the introduction, a small correction may be required (additional administration of small doses). Therefore, one should not be frightened if one week after the procedure you do not see the effect. It will come a little later.
Remember that all of us are naturally asymmetric, sometimes the introduction of Botox may slightly increase this asymmetry due to the redistribution of muscle tone (when the eyebrow becomes slightly lower than the other, or less rises). Usually a similar phenomenon is eliminated on the correction or on its own for several weeks.
